Description: |
Black body with a naked, pink head. In flight the long, two-toned wings, dark in front and light behind, are diagnostic. The way they hold their wings in a shallow V and sometimes teeter from side to side also helps to identify them at a distance. |
Voice: |
Usually silent, but sometimes hisses and wheezes. Click here to listen

Habitat: |
Prefers mixed farmland and forest where there are large trees for perching and roosting, and opportunities to find wild and domestic carrion. Frequently seen gliding over highways. |
