Description: |
Large-headed with a big bill and shaggy crest. The crest and back are blue. Adult male has a blue collar. Adult female has a blue collar with a rusty wash, rusty sides, and a rusty band below the blue collar. Juvenile birds resemble adult females, but lack the rusty band. |

Interesting Fact: |
Kingfishers are one of the few birds capable of stalling flight and hovering in place. As it hovers it scans for food, then plunge-dives into the water to catch fish. |
