Description: Small, gray-green, with a gray cap and pale yellow sides. The white eyebrow over a red iris is notable. Also note the lack of wing bars.

Habitat: Hardwood and mixed hardwood-pine forests with a dense undergrowth. Where pines dominate, prefers riparian areas where hardwood trees are most likely to be found.
Interesting Fact: The Red-eyed Vireo is one of the most abundant forest birds in the state, though it is heard more often than seen because it prefers to sit still while singing.
