Description: Overall color varies from slate gray to brown (some females). Belly and underside of tail are white. White outer tail feathers show clearly when bird is in flight. Has a pink bill.
Voice: Voice is a short trill. Call notes vary and include zeet and zip.

Habitat: Brushy areas including the edges of woods and suburban areas.
Interesting Fact: The Dark-eyed Junco has five different color forms that used to be considered separate species. The form most commonly found in Arkansas is the Slate-colored. Oregon, Pink-sided, Gray-headed, and White-winged occur rarely.
