Description: Resembles a House Finch. Male Purple Finch does not have brown streaks on the sides. Female Purple Finch has a bolder brown and white pattern on the head.
Voice: Song is a slightly hoarse, variable warble.

Habitat: Hardwood and pine forests as well as suburban and urban areas where it visits feeders.
Interesting Fact: Purple Finch abundance can vary considerably from year to year. Any given location in Arkansas may have only a few birds one winter, followed by a flock of several hundred the next winter.
