Description: Male has a pinkish-red forehead and breast, brown back and tail, and streaked flanks. Female is brown above, with a plain brown head, and brown-and-white streaks underneath. Compare to the Purple Finch.
Voice: Song is a sweet, variable warble.

Interesting Fact: House Finches are native to the western United States but were released in New York City in the 1920s by pet shop owners when legislation was passed to prevent their use as pets. From there they spread and can now be found across the country.
